Know any good CV templates?

I have been sharing my thoughts over on Social Hire on whether or not to use CV templates.

For me it is a categorical ‘No’.

I’d go as far as to say that everything that a CV is intended to do is undermined by use of a template – especially the list based ones with headings all over the place and down the side, cutting out your space to differentiate.

Templates also tend to treat the CV as an objective list of facts about you. You realise that all of your ‘competitors’ are going to say the same things about themselves, right?

How do you stand out from the crowd? Demonstrate your skills with evidence – that is the thing that others can’t match.

This is what I call the ‘Marketing approach’ to CV writing.
